Dental Implants at Firs Premier, Leicester

What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants provide a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth. The actual implant is a small titanium screw that is placed in the jaw bone as a replacement for a natural tooth root. They are made of titanium which is suited to the human body. The screw can then hold a crown, a bridge or a denture so it helps to replace a missing tooth. Dental implants can be used to replace a missing tooth or many missing teeth in upper and lower jaws. At Firs Premier, Leicester, we use the highest quality professional lab and materials to make the artificial teeth on a denture or a crown look natural and last for a very long time.

Why have dental implants?

Dental implants are the best way of replacing missing teeth. Implants will not only feel and look like natural teeth, but they will also increase your ability to chew normally again. Loose dentures will become a thing of the past.

Can anyone have dental implants?

Most adult patients can have implants as long as they are in good health. At your initial consultation, we will evaluate and assess your suitability by going through your medical and dental history. Dental implants have the potential to dramatically change a person's smile, confidence and life.

Is the treatment painful?

This type of treatment will often cause very little discomfort and many patients often say the procedure was more comfortable than anticipated. Anaesthesia is used to eliminate any discomfort during the procedure.

How long will the treatment take?

Treatment time will vary for each patient depending on their particular situation. Some simple cases can take a few weeks, just the time to allow for the implant to integrate with the jaw bone, however more complex and larger cases can take longer.

Will I ever be without my teeth?

Each case is different. So whilst some patients will have a temporary denture to wear until the treatment is completed, others do not require one.  This will be discussed with you at the consultation.

How much will it cost?

We offer two implant systems to meet the patient’s financial needs - Straumann and Megagen. The benefits and suitability of each are discussed at the initial consultation. Our implants are from £2695 per tooth. Prices will decrease if more implants are needed (please note that that the abutment and crown are not included in this price and will be charged depending on the level of quality chosen). There is a £50 new patient consultation fee. No fee for existing patients.

The total fee for tooth replacement with dental implants will depend on several factors, including the number of teeth being replaced and the number of implants required to support your replacement teeth. You may not necessarily need an implant for each missing tooth. Some additional procedures may also be required prior to the placement of your dental implants to ensure the long-term health of your dental implants. To obtain an overall price for your treatment a diagnostic examination will be required which will allow us to create an individual treatment plan for you.

Can I spread the cost of the treatment?

Yes. We offer a 0% finance option helping our patients spread the cost over 12 months. Please discuss this with our Practice Manager, Jo Piskula.

Is the treatment expensive and is it cheaper abroad?

Implants are offered at a cheaper price abroad and this can appear attractive, but quite often implant treatment carried out abroad is over a shorter period of time, not allowing enough time for the implants to integrate sufficiently, increasing the chance of failure.

We offer two types of implant systems to meet our patient’s budgets, but more importantly, we provide the highest quality of continued care following your treatment. Firs Premier surgeons are educated and experienced in placing implants.

How long do dental implants last?

Dental crowns and bridges supported by implants have been shown to last over 15 years in 90% of cases. There is good evidence to suggest that they will last for much longer. Most patients can expect them to last a lifetime with regular maintenance. Did you know that the first patient that received dental implants more than 30 years ago, still has them functioning today?

How do I look after my dental implants?

Maintaining care of the implants will help to assure the long-term success of your treatment. Plaque needs to be removed daily, with brushing and flossing around your restoration. Your dentist will show you how to care for your implants properly and you should have a hygiene appointment every six months if you want your implants to last a long time. You will also be expected to attend an annual implant check appointment to monitor the implant. There will be an examination fee chargeable at the time and failure to attend this will invalidate any warranty given.
