We recently received a fantastic update from Louise Bell, William's Mum, following The British Swimming Championships.
For those of you who haven't seen our past posts, William is a very talented swimmer who hopes to represent the Country on an International level in the future.
"Well, what a week William had at the British Swimming Championships (Trials) 2017 last week. It is the first year that William has been allowed to qualify in the 15/18 year category (Juniors) and he shared the pool at Ponds Forge, Sheffield with the greats of British swimming, a true inspiration.
His week started with a new personal-best time in the 400m freestyle and a new Leicestershire County record!! A days rest was followed by the 1500m freestyle and what a race that was! William swam a new Personal Best (PB), knocking a massive 18 seconds off and swimming the race 34 seconds faster than he did in March at the English Schools Swimming Association Championships. This placed him as 3rd fastest in the junior category and an amazing 10th in the open. His time was a new County record, one which had stood since 2006 and an East Midlands record also. William swam a new heat PB in the 200 breaststroke the following day and finished off his week with a new PB in the 200m Individual Medley, a new County record time."
At Firs Dental we are so proud of William's achievements this week, which are phenomenal for his first year swimming at these championships. We have no doubt that he is one to watch for future Olympics.
